NOTE: The coloration of the FireBalls, Fireshapes and Firestones is not a paint-based coating. There is a water based ceramic stain formulation that is made for this process. Paint will provide a fairly consistent covering, but is only on the surface and will burn away. Conversely, the ceramic stain penetrates the base material to provide certain colorfastness under heat unattainable by paint. Unfortunately, not all castings absorb at the same rate. Some soak up all the coloration with a resultant “thin” look. When this occurs, we cannot “double dip”, as the second coating resides on the surface and will peel under heat.
In summary, there will be variations in the same color from time to time and piece to piece.
