We will show you a way that a gas valve can be “tastefully” added to your fireplace.
Make sure that a professional plumber extends the gas line from the gas stub in the fireplace to the new key-style valve. It is very important that the plumbing between those two points is leak free and rigid piping is used.
The picture below shows how you can use a piece of simple angle iron to create a lip that the key-style valve can be mounted to. The angle iron can be fastened to the fireplace floor and painted with a heat resistant paint. The paint can be found at this Link. A hole can be cut into the angle iron in order to mount the key-style valve body.
